wife has completed 730 days in canada required for pr card renewal, then left canada and comes back during summer vacation. pr issued = may 2009, pr due for renewal = may 2014.

1. can I apply for pr card renewal before may 2014? If so how many months before?
2. Photo requirements for pr card renewal - do they accept photos taken out of canada as nowhere on cic website they say it shud be taken in canada.

thanks

I would apply in December 2013 (six months in advance). If you apply too far in advance CIC will just hold the file and not process it until it is closer to May 2014.

I don't know if it matters where the photos are taken however you must be in Canada to submit the renewal application.

Thanks will do that, But my wife need not be in canada to apply. Can she sign the form and I can send the form and document copies.

what about citizenship photos and pr renewal photos - does anybody have any experience of cic objecting to photos taken outside canada? No photographer is willing to stamp a photo that was not taken by them. they claim they have to keep photos on file for 6 months if cic goes back to them for an enquiry. They refuse to stamp even though am willing to pay in full and above the usual rate.

Are photos for pr renewal accepted with 12 months date stamp and for citizenship within 6 months date stamp?

As per CIC guide don't apply if the current card has more than 1 year validity

She needs to be in Canada on the day she dates and mails the form to CIC. To be even safer I would remain in Canada till CIC received it. Sure you can mail it for her if she is in Canada if not then you can't and if you did it would be a breach of the regulations which ultimately ends in loss of PR.

The regulations do not specify that the photos must be taken in Canada but they must have your name and date photo was captured on the back. I guess you thought you could take the photos to an 'in Canada' photographer who would date stamp them..doesn't fly...seems the sanctions the photographer faces from CIC outweigh your 'above the usual rate' offer. Why don't you just follow the rules its the best..nay its the only option if you want PR status to be maintained.

Not quite sure I understand this question but see above for name/date requirement. Photo must be within 6/12 month of application date as the case maybe.
