Hi all,
I landed in Canada in July 2011 and was advised at Immigration that my PR card would be posted to my residential address in Canada in a few weeks. Due to work commitments I returned back to the UK after a week in Canada. I was staying with my cousin and I had given his address for all correspondence. Although my cousin received my SIN card in the post, he didn't receive my PR card. All he got was a PR card application form including IMM 5444 and IMM 5455 (Supplementary Identification Form).
Page 4 of IMM5445E details the application process for a PR card for residents in Canada that requires one to post their completed application to the CIC office in Nova Scotia and once the card has been received by the local CIC office, we are required to collect it in person from the CIC office within 180 days.
Is this a change in procedure of receiving PR cards now as I was under the impression and was advised likewise by friends as well as the Immigration Officer I spoke to at the time of landing that the PR card is directly posted to our residential address and we do not need to collect it in person from the CIC office.
Please can anyone advise what shall I do now as I haven't received my PR card and have no valid travel document to travel to Canada (my landing visa was single entry).
Thanks a lot.
