Hi
Pls can anyone help me with suggestions, advice...

1. Im scheduled to travel out of Canada on Friday night (ie roughly 38 hours from now). Problem is: I havnt recieved my PR card in d mail. But I have my record of landing. They told me at the landing appointment that d card would get to me within 6 weeks. (Today is the first day of the 6th week).

I plan to be away for 4 weeks? Can i go and ask a member of my family here in Canada to mail it to me when it arrives in the mail? I know I can go the Embassy at my country on destination but Im hoping I dont have to go through all that stress cos I already expect this trip (which is to one of d hottest and most disorganised places I have ever been to in my life) to be most stressful!!

2. If i dont have a choice but to go apply for this document at the embassy at my country of destination, can someone pls tell me what this document is called and if it can be obtained within 4 weeks?

Thank you!

I think it depends on whether or not you are from a Visa Exempt Country.

I am American and had no problem flying without my PR card. I had my record of landing and explained that I had not received it yet.

Hi,
Defenitely you can travel out of Canada before getting your PR Card. Which ever country you travel, you should give a proper address to where your relatives can send the PR Card by any reputed courier, so that you will get it in time. You should consider the risk of sending it by a normal postal service. You may face problem to travel back to Canada without a PR Card, if your passport is not from a visa exempted country.

The embassies out side Canada will not help you to get your PR Card.

They will, however, help him get a travel document which will allow him to enter Canada just as well as a PR card. This involves a small fee, though, so it's obviously preferable to get the PR card.
