PR Card Effective Date after Interview?

Hello,

After a successful immigration interview, I am wondering on a few questions:

1.) Do you have to physically apply for the PR card after landing in Canada? Or does this happen automatically after the interview before landing?

2.) Will the effective date of the PR card once you get it have the date you passed your interview? Or will it have the date the card was issued if it arrives a couple months later?

I know I'd be working with my SIN which is fine, but just wondering on these questions for when I'd travel in and out of Canada for any vacation, etc.

PR card will appear at the address you provided at the time of landing, automatically by 60-80 days. If you have landed on a normal working day, then you might have got your SIN no. already at the airport/POE itself. In that case, SIN card will appear at the address you provided by 20 days. If it was a holiday or you don't have the SIN no. allotted to you, then you have to apply for SIN card. When you receive either of these, you can apply for Health card, Driving licence etc. For opening a bank a/c you only need the SIN no. You can also apply for Photo ID card but you have to discard it when you receive your driving license, it's a waste of money. Please remember the address is important because other than Photo ID & Bank a/c everywhere an address proof is required. Your SIN, PR, DL or Photo ID card or the bank statement received at the address will act as address proof.

1) Unless there are reasons for PR card not being processed at the time of first entry to Canada as Immigrant, no special event is required.

2) Shelf life of PR card is 5 years from date of issue.
