I am PR card holder and my wife too..
Somehow she can't retain her residency
But I can....she won't meet her 2 out of 5 years...
Her 3 years will be completed next month.
She will still have her PR card valid till June 2019
She will be reported as per this forum..
Can I apply for her from Canada and how long is wait...
What if she is outside how long is the wait..
Some people say it's 3 years, some say it's 1 year.
What is better sponsoring from inside Canada or outside.
She is currently pregnant and it's completely impossible
For her to move to Canada as of now...
Since her PR card expires in June 2019...
Will she be allowed to work till June....?
Or until she gets her permanent residency again.
She wants to work, since her career is at stake.
Even after she does not meet the residency obligation.
This PR is driving us crazy...
Expert answers please..
Thanks

Her PR card validity date is irrelevant. If she has spent three years in a row outside of Canada, she does not meet her Residency Obligation.

Do you mean you apply to renew her card, pretending she's in Canada? No. Definitely not. That is extremely illegal.

If she is outside Canada, she cannot renew her card. Not that she needs to yet. As things are going, she won't be eligible to hold one by the time it needs to be renewed.

If you wish to sponsor her to gain PR again, and you are only a PR (not a citizen), you will have to be inside Canada to sponsor her. She should formally surrender her PR, as you cannot sponsor her until she no longer has the current status.

This is unfortunate. She should have returned to Canada before the pregnancy advanced to a point where she couldn't fly.

She will be allowed to enter Canada, and do all the things a PR can do (like work) for as long as she remains a PR. However, if she has spent three years+ outside of Canada in a 5 year period, and she arrives at the border, she will likely be detected as violating her Residency Obligation, and reported, which will result in her losing her PR status.
Or until she gets her permanent residency again.

If she is a PR she can work. If she ever decides she wants to live in Canada (which doesn't seem likely, as she immediately left, and hasn't returned since), then you can sponsor her for PR status from inside Canada if she is either stripped of her PR status, or surrenders her PR status to avoid being stripped of it.
