After getting my post grad work permit I applied under Provincial Nominee program. Its been 23 months since my federal application was received by CIC. Which is way past their processing time of 19 months. I submitted the online status request form. This is the reply I got " we can confirm that your application was transferred to a special unit and is still in process. "
It was a simple application, Canadian Graduate Student (4.5 years degree completed in Canada) -> Post grad work permit -> Provincial Nomination with field job -> Federal application. No Spouse involved.
What is this special unit?
Are there any specific reasons when they send applications to special unit ?
How long does this special unit take to process the applications ?
If anyone else went through this please advise.
