Hi community,

I am going to apply for PR under experience class just for myself, I'm married (We married here then she left) and my wife is not living in Canada and not going to soon.

In application form there is a section about number of applicants whether they are accompanying or not. So obviously it has to be 2 (Or can it be 1? I just need to apply for myself.).

My question is; If I want to apply for myself; during the making the payment, do I have to pay for I and my spouse(it's extra 550$) or just for myself?

Thank you.

Hi,

If you do not wish to include your wife in your application as an accompanying family member you wont be able to sponsor her in the future and she would have to apply on her own for PR.

You only pay your application & processing fees if she is not included in your application as an accompanying member.

Hi

You will have to include your wife as a non-accompanying dependent. You will not have to pay application fees for her but she will have to have a medical and obtain the necessary PCCs, as well as all other documents required for the application.

Completely excluding your wife from the application most likely isn't an option for you. The only cases I have seen on here where an applicant was able to exclude their spouse was when they were able to provide CIC with proof that they had already filed for divorce. CIC doesn't like to permanently exclude family members, so they require applicants to do absolutely everything possible to include them and provide solid evidence as to why they can't; this usually causes apps to be delayed, sometimes significantly.

Thanks for the answers.

Instead of completely exclude, It looks like and better to include her as a non-accompanying family member for future procedures.( Is this correct? Can I sponsor her in future if I select "non-accompanying family member"? or she has to be accompanying member for it?)

So help me to clear things up please.
In this case I am going to exclude her payment and include required files for spouse. (So even though she is currently not applying for PR, it will be better for future sponsorship.)

Spouse payment no need to be done if she is a family member and not applying for PR,
Spouse payment needs to be done if she is also applying for PR (Are these correct?)

Sorry for trying to clear up things but I had to go through lot's of problems during this application. It's not about paying 550$ or not, it's about doing this correct.

Thank you again.

Keep it simple. The correct thing is to include your spouse as an accompanying family member and pay the fees.

Yes, if you include her as a non-accompanying dependent, you don't need to pay the fees for her and will be able to sponsor her in the future.
