Hi,

My family just arrived in Canada Last July 2012 under an arranged employment work permit visa.
Can I already apply for a permanent visa(PR)?

Thanks.

Are you talking about your Spouse or other family member?.
What is your visa status in Canada?.

A person with at least 12 months of full-time (or an equal amount in part-time) skilled work experience in Canada in the three years, is eligible to apply as Canadian Experience Class. Should meet other requirements to qualify.

Hi Wilson,

My wife and son are with me under arranged employment work permit visa in an engineering company.
We're only just 6 months here in Toronto. Am I already eligible to apply for the PR?

Based on your other posts, I think you're working on an LMO-based work permit - is that correct? And your family is accompanying you. If you had actually received an arranged employment offer and used it for its appropriate purpose, you would already be here as a PR.

6 months’ work experience alone won't allow you to apply for PR. But there are options in the future:

1. If you're working in a skilled job (NOC 0, A or B), and if your employer is willing to make you what is typically understood as an arranged employment offer, and if he obtains an Arranged Employment Opinion (AEO), then you can use that AEO to support a PR application under the Federal Skilled Worker Program right away.

2. If you're working in a skilled job (NOC 0, A or B), after getting 12 months’ work experience, you can apply for PR under the Canadian Experience Class.
