Hi Friends,
We completed medical for our PR in October 2011 and in November 2011 we got to know that one of my dependent had an active (non-contiguous) TB. Since then till June 2012, the dependent went thru tb medication and finally my dependent is out of TB based on chest x-rays those were taken, sputum test etc. These results were sent to Ottawa public health officials regularly. Recently, my dependent and my dependent's doctor (where my dependent had treatment) got a letter from Public health official in Ottawa asking for compliance letter to make sure if the treatment has been successfully carried, the doctor has forwarded a letter of compliance within few days.

I was wondering if anyone was/is in similar boat, do they ask for something else after this and how long does it take for them to update medicals so that our online status change to medical received?

Please, let me know and thanks a lot for replying and reading this post.

Regards,
Canadabie.

Have you reviewed OB 471?

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2012/ob471.asp

This is the new medical process and it includes useful information about medical surveillance.

Here is the IMEI for TB: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/partner/pp/pdf/IMEI_Tuberculosis.pdf

The new handbook extract is quite useful and discusses TB (note this is not the final document): http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/partner/pp/pdf/handbook-extract.pdf

I suspect they are merely trying to confirm that treatment was in keeping with Canadian requirements as described in the Handbook.

Thanks computergeek. Yeah, those pdf documents were useful and it looks like there are following their standard protocol. Do you have any idea how long more it will take for them to identify that my dependent is out to danger i.e we sent all the results as described in IME document for TB?

I'm not sure. I've heard at least one case where they wanted 12 months of clear chest films before they would sign off on the medicals, but I can't really draw much of a conclusion from a single case. Sorry.

Thanks computergeek for sharing the information. It has been an year for me as well, I hope they would sign off on our med records soon as well.

Canadabie.

I hope so. I see your medicals expired, so what you may get is a request to repeat your medicals and if those come back clear they'll move your application forward.

Thanks computergeek.
