Dearest respected expert,

I am now a registered member of your site. I must say that its amazing the manner how you guys provide solutions and comfort on all issues on hand.Bravo!!

Well I too have an issue that need your expert opinion or perhaps solution.

I am Canadian PR and have lived outside of Canada for more than 3 years now. I am aware of the 3 out of the 5 years requirement to meet the residency obligations. The difference here is that my wife and kids are Canadian citizens. They have been staying with me ever since I left Canada 31/2 years ago. I have checked on the residency obligation on the cic.gc.ca that the residency is not effected if your spouse is a Canadian citizen.
I am going back to Canada in April 2016,I just wanted to make sure with you guys if I will have any problem getting back to Canada since I have overstayed the 3 years PR requirements.

Will they deny me entry if I show all the proof that my wife was with me and I have valid reasons to be out of Canada? Also My PR card is still valid, do I need to get travel visa to enter Canada?

Thank you all for your feedback.

If your PR card is still valid, you do not need a travel document or any other visa. If immigration asks you as you return how long you were outside Canada, just say that you were accompanying your Canadian spouse. That should be enough. However, you should keep proof that you were living together because you will need it when it's time to renew your PR card.
