Hi Team,

I received my PPR mail on March 2, unfortunately it landed in my Junk folder. I kept checking my mails and CIC continuously but could not find my PPR mail. Only recently I was reading a few threads regarding PPR mails landing in Junk folder and I started going through my mails in Junk. I found a mail from CIC on March 2 and now VFS is closed. Last week I even submitted a webform and was waiting for a reply. Do you think CIC Ottawa will give me an extension thought I wrote to them today (18 November) considering lockdown situation. My office is CIC Ottawa and I am based in India. Please help me. So far I replied to the email id through which I received the mail. Anybody been in such a terrible situation as mine?

Also, ever since March 23 national lockdown was announced and VFS was shut, could this be considered a ground for my extension?

I found it in my folder in November 2020. AOR was September 2019. I sent my PPR to VFS immediately when they started two-way courier service and they collected my passport on 10 December. Today I got a msg saying 'decision processed envelope' has been sent to VFS today and further VFS will courier to me. I am wondering if there is any hope for me given that it was COVID time and I could not submit my passport for VISA within 30 days time. No requests for medicals or updates on CIC account, still continues to say it's processing....

Should be fine, just explain the situation to VFS when you submit your passport.
I wrote to VFS that cos of COVID I could not submit my passport, pls let me know what to do and sent them my PPR mail. They told me to send it via two way service. My worry is that my medical has expired and I really pray they don't send me a rejection bluntly.... No updates on medicals extension, anything on CIC account

They will only send you a message on your medical being extended or needing to be redone after your COPR has been issued.

Right now your application is not officially approved until you get your COPR issued, and for that you need to submit your passport first.

Hey, I have already sent my passport to VFS on 1/ Dec. So basically, sent them as soon as they resumed office in India (only online though). Now after a month I got a msg today 'processed decision envelope' will be sent to you soon ... so you mean I could get a medical extension and COPR even after visa stamping as I have already sent them my passport for stamping....as they say decision is being made. Pls suggest

I got you, it sounded like you were waiting to submit your passport to VFS, but you already have which is good.

You should be fine and getting your COPR and PR visa when the decision envelope arrives at the VFS office.

Your case is a bit exceptional, but i don't think IRCC would accept to take your passport if you needed a remedical.

Also, I forgot to mention that when I raised a webform query in December that pls send me a new PR request as it has expired - they sent me the following msg but I still sent my passport to VFS cos they accepted it. So basically, is my case still open and I should wait for travel ban and further instructions from them or what. Pls suggest.

Application number: xxxx

Thank you for contacting Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada in regard to your application for permanent residence (PR).
Based on our assessment of your recent enquiry, we regret to inform you that we cannot process your request to issue a new confirmation of PR document and PR visa at this time; you have not demonstrated that you meet the exemption criteria. As a reminder, the travel restrictions were implemented to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID‑19) in Canada.
Specifically, you do not meet the criteria for Expired COPR Travel authorization issuance.
Rest assured that your application will remain open and be put on hold until after the travel restriction pause is lifted or until you demonstrate that you meet the exemption criteria mentioned above. You will have to submit the new information via our webform.

Oh boy, so you're sort of caught in no man's land.

They aren't issuing new COPR and PR visas because of the travel restrictions, it's unfortunate they aren't making an exception for you because of your situation.

I'm honestly not sure what you do now, because basically the only thing left is to get your COPR and PR visa, but you can't get that because of the restrictions. You're also in a catch 22 because you don't qualify for the exemptions based on expired COPRs because you were never issued one, so you can't go the route of getting a letter of authorisation to travel.

It's a conundrum. I think the only thing you can do is wait it out.

I know someone who was in a similar situation as yours and they got their documents issued in the end, so the only reason it seems it can't be done for you yet is because of the restrictions. Once they're lifted i think you should try again, not much else to be done at the moment. By then you may need a remedical but you should wait and see.

Thinking to raise a webform and check with VFS.
