PPR Dilemma

Hi All,

I don't know if this was ever asked before, but I'll ask again. My AOR was March '16. Yesterday, I received the PPR from CIC (for me and my wife). The problem is that we don't want to land in Canada so soon (for the PR), we would like to do so after another 12-14 months (I just didn't expect things to move so fast).

The reason I want to wait 12-14 months is because my wife is 7 weeks pregnant and she's confined to bed due to this being a high risk pregnancy. How can I talk to CIC about and ask them to put a hold on my PR processing? Does it even work this way (i.e. can the PPR request be post-poned?) OR should I get the visa stamped on our passports and then talk to CIC about extending the max. landing date?

Can someone with the necessary knowledge please shed some light on it? I'll be very grateful for an answer.

Thanks!

Hi, according to rules you have to land there before your medicals expires.
Only available option is, do a soft landing (go there and get your PR card and come back)
But under special circumstances you can get an extension. All depends on how you address them. So get a professional to handle the situation.

Ok, so lets say I do send them our passports and we get a landing date. However, considering that my wife is strictly barred from traveling, I wont be able to land or do a soft landing either..

Is it possible to get the landing date be extended beyond the medical + 1 year date?

I did read your previous post, yes. But the delivery date is 4 months after my medical would expire, which is why my original question. Can I just travel alone and perform the soft landing?

Hi

I guess Principal applicant must enter the canada and do landing within timeframe. My advice Please do the soft landing asap, inform CIC about your wife's medical situation, what they might demand later is re medical which will be fine.

Or other option which might not be feasible as it looks
consult your doctor if he advices your wife for travelling to Canada may be in next 1 month or so and done delivery there.

If your wife is at all strictly barred from traveling during her pregnancy, you should present a medical certificate for any consideration from IRCC.

I am not 100% sure on this, but my theory is that you should still land before your original expiry date while she may have to repeat the medical if she will be cleared to travel much later.

Worst case scenario, she does not land, but you can sponsor her and your child later.
