Good morning folks!

So we sent our application last week, got DHL confirmation that it was delivered but no AOR yet. We just realized this morning that we might have made a big mistake in our application. My husband and I totally forgot that about 10 years ago he applied for a visa to Mexico (he is from Guatemala) and was denied. So in that question, on that form, that asks if you have ever been refused a visa, we said no. Should've said yes.

Is it safe to say that we have time to correct this mistake before we get accused of misrepresentation? Our plan is to wait for the AOR and our UCI, then send an updated form with explanation.

Thanks for the input lovely people!!

My $0.05 here is yeah you will have time. Just explain what happened, and send the new form when you have the Application Number and the UCI.

Thank you for your answer!

Is that something that we will be able to send through the online thing, or better via mail because of the signature needed on the form?

The first stage at CPC-M they simply verify all questions are answered and all forms signed. Then they evaluate sponsor eligibility. When they send you either AOR1 or AOR2 you can then update your form. Be sure to include a cover page that explains the error/ommision being accidental and offer apology.

If it was me I would scan the new form and send via CSE with App # and UCI and as much personal info as possible (Names of PA and SPR, email, address, phone, DOB) and mail the original to MCVO as well.

So would I. This makes sure the visa office gets it.

You're very lucky to have made this discovery before CIC would have...and they very likely, would have.

Just follow the advice of the other members and try to relax. ;)

Thanks everyone!

Should I do this as soon as I get the AOR1, or wait until the file has been transferred to Mexico? I'm thinking I'll submit the change online as soon as I can, then wait until file gets transferred to mail it?

And yes I know they would have found it for sure! We had to answer the same question for our TRV application last year and got it right then! Not sure why this time we didn't even think about it!!

I would do is as soon as you get AOR1. Once they have the CSE, they can direct it to the appropriate office.

I am reviving this thread just to confirm a couple of things!

We got our SA a couple of days ago and our file got sent to Mexico. So I was going to send the updated form in question with an additional page for explanation through a Case Specific Inquiry. Should I also send the originals by mail to Mexico City VO? BEcause I read somewhere that scanned signatures are no good..

Thoughts on how to proceed would be appreciated! Thx!

Depends on what you're sending them.. but we habe always done scanned pdf over CSE and a note that states the original was coming via courier...

We are sending the updated background info form, IMM5669 I believe, with an additional 2 pages of explanation.

Also update schedule A as these documents are tied together by way of BG check.

Scan to pdf and send via CSE. Then backup by sending via courier..

So... I'm an idiot.
I sent a CSE with additional documents and got a response that they received said documents. Good!

Thing is, I forgot the originals of those documents in Canada. I am now back in Guatemala. Do I really need to mail them over as well, or will the CSE be enough? Our file got sent to Mexico but we have not received an AOR2 yet...

The follow up mailing was to make sure they had no excuse that you didn't try to get it to them. As long as they don't ask for originals, you are ok.
