Hi everyone!
I would like to get some advice for an upcoming situation. My concern is about 2 different but related topics.
I'm currently in Vancouver on a one-year Working Holiday Visa that will expire in June 2018. Since I got here, I've been looking to find a job in the jewelry industry, a really interesting outlet for me.
---
1st part:
Finally, after 2 months, I've got an interview in the exact company I was looking for and I have good chances to get the job. But of course, I'd like this to become an opportunity to stay longer in Canada.
I know there is no way to find out if my potential employer can apply for LMIA for myself in the future (I think they would). Still, I want the job. But I was hoping you can help me on how to approach this subject... Especifically:
- Should I say that I'm on a Working Holiday Visa?
- Should I ask if there is a chance in the future to get an LMIA through them if they think I worth it?
Needless to say, I would love that because after working for them for a while, I'd be able to apply to express entry.
---
The 2nd part is about the job itself and the LMIA:
In the last few years, I've been learning about Jewellery and Goldsmithing, reading many books, learned from tutorials, experimenting techniques and I did some workshops. But in this area of expertise is hard to get certificates or credencials.
I guess my noc would be 5244 (Artisans and craftspersons) rather than 6344 (Jewellers, jewellery and watch repairers and related occupations).
I check my eligibility through express entry and I don't match the requirements since I don't have paid work experience in the last 10 years (much more than creating my own artwork and sell it).
- Since the area of expertise is pretty specific and there are not tons of people applying for this kind of jobs, do you think is hard to get a LMIA?
- If I get this job and they can provide an LMIA, after getting my 1560 hours, would I be able to apply with that experience?
- Would it be helpful to do certified workshops (there are expensive) to back my skills for the express entry?
I haven't found any information about this noc's...
I really appreciate any help you can give me...
Regards,
