postgraduation work permit visa versus normal visitors' visa

Hi all,

I have a question about getting visa after getting my post graduation work permit:

I finished my undergraduate studies in Canada and obtained a 3-year post-graduation work permit. But I am a graduate student in the US now. In fact, I left Canada before my post-graduation work permit was approved, and asked a friend to bring it to me later on.

I am open to the possibility of seeking employment in Canada after my graduate studies in the US, so I want to apply for a work visa using my post-graduation work permit. But I am afraid that my work visa will not be approved as I am studying in the US now. Will my Post Graduation Work Permit still be useful, or do I have to use a usual traveller's visa to enter Canada from now on? Thanks.

Hi,

1. You can work in Canada on the basis of your PGWP (only upto its validity). And you do not need to apply again for TRV to enter Canada IF you hold a TRV (even if it's expired or only valid for a single entry).
2. Once your PGWP is over, you need to apply for 'Full Work Permit' (based on a positive 'Labour Market Opinion').
