Dear All,
Could you please let me know whether if Postdoctoral Fellow falls under either NOC 4011 or 2112?
I hold a Ph.D in Chemistry and got three-year of Postdoctoral Research experience. As a Postdoctoral Fellow, my duties include performing some experiments on a particular topic and publish those findings in journals. Further, I co-supervised graduate and postgraduate students. Also, we involve in research group discussions, presenting papers and attending conferences in national and international level. However, I did not lecture in classes but supervised in the laboratory. In my reference letter, it was not mentioned to teach students in classes, whereas in my Postdoc offer letter, it was mentioned that I was supposed to teach in classes. These is the overall roles I performed.
Now, if you see the University Professor (NOC 4011) description, it mostly involves teaching rather than research. Under same occupation, it was mentioned as Postdoctoral Fellow. On the other hand, Chemist (NOC 2112) description involves more research rather than teaching. Which occupation code I shall use for my application? As in Canada, at some universities Postdoc may involve in teaching responsibilities. Was it the reason why they mentioned under NOC 4011?
I have seen many discussions on the same occupation code but I did not get 100 % clarity. Please your valuable inputs and discussions are very much appreciated. Thank you!
Regards,
C. Sampath

Hello, can I know which NOC code you used for your application? did your application get accepted?

Of course, the title in my offer letter or experience letter was Postdoctoral Fellow. But most of my duties/roles matches closely with Chemist (NOC:2112). Here, roles and responsibilities are important than the title. That's what many people say and that is the reason why I choosed Chemist.

Thanks a lot. What about NOC code 4012 for TA and RA, I do not have any TA duties so can I apply for the RA duties only?

Sorry to say that I don't have any idea about TA and RA. You please better consult better expert in this case. Be very careful in selecting occupation because it decides everything.

Use 4011 for postdoc and 4012 for TA or RA

Thanks a lot. I am a PostDoc but I do not have any teaching duties. So I think 4012 as RA will fit better with me than 4011. What do you recommend for me 4011 or 4012?
4011 what I used..... I passed eligibility...

Great! Did your letter include any teaching duties or only research duties? Can you please send to me a sample of postdoc duties you wrote in your letter?
Just research duties

Hello everyone, I want to start an Express Entry application for Chemist (NOC 2112) and I earned CSR 338 . Is anyone here has applied in the same category to guide me. I need to know if I have a chance for PNP? and what is useful to increase my chance for a draw ?
Thank you very much
