Post PNP Nomination: Getting Police Clearance Certificate

Hi,

I just nominated by Alberta PNP and now am preparing my application for federal immigration. One of the items for the checklist is to submit a police clearance certificate. How do I get one considering the fact that I am in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and originally hail from Chandigarh, India.

Hi bro.. Congrates for your nomination. You can get police clearence from indian consulate in your area. You dont need to submit canadian police clearence.

I am uncomfortable handing over my original passport to the vfs visa office.

Is there any other way of going about this - I have a police clearance certificate from India but it's about 2 years+ old (I got it when I came to Canada).

No jagota.. You dont have any alternate. But you need not to worry about submitting pp at vfs, they are safe and this is standard procedure of getting police clearence.

I was under the impression that only Vancouver consulate can process Indian PCC in west Canada. Do Edmonton and Calgary Indian Visa consulate service PCC's as well ? Kindly help.

bro there is no visa office in edmonton and calgary...vfs send it to vancouver....vancouver dont accept PCC application directly anymore...

As for providing birth certificate for the federal immigration - I don' have any with me here in Canada, I do have one in India. Can I just show my passport in lieu of the birth certificate or are they stringent on getting the birth certificate.

Also, does vfs office in Edmonton process birth certificates?

You are lucky that you have one as CIC is very strict on this one. They do not accept birth certificates issued by CGI as they are based on your passport, so the answer to your second question is Yes but of no use. ( in most cases). Get your birth certificate from India. Additionally, go through below link in case you need more information:

My dad went to the police station but he was told that because I am currently in Canada, I would need to get it from the Indian embassy in Canada and that they can't issue it to me. Does anybody have any experience with getting Indian police clearance certificates in Canada - the process, how long it takes, etc.

jagota bhai get PCC from your local/nearest vfs office. google for vfs canada and you will find the addresses of different vfs offices. it usually takes 4-6 weeks to get your PCC and you will have to give them your passport for the same time period.
