Hello All, Thought I would share my post landing exp in YYZ here as this will be helpful to the future immigrants as well.
Mine was a very lengthy process from the time I got ITA to my PPR, n eventual landing.
ITA- Sep 2017, AOR- Dec 18, 2017, PPR (1st) - Sep 2018 - We had a baby in between, hence we requested to add the new dependent, so there was an extension to submit related docs. Final PPR- Feb 10, 2019.
So we had to land before Dec 6th . i,e, our medical expiry date. We planned to land on Nov 10th in YYZ and yes here we are and posting this from Toronto(Yaaay!!!).
We took Etihad airlines from MAA - ABH- YYZ. We travelled with a 1 yr old, So we thought it would've been better if we had booked a flight which had equal time travel. Apart from that, the airline service was just ok. Coz we have already travelled with Emirates, Qatar Airways, etc. this airline could've done better.
We did not get any doc to fill before landing in-flight as opposed to many threads which I saw here. Once landed we were directed to a Kiosk where we gave our PP details n got a print out. After being in a queue which literally took ages to get to a point coz we landed on a Sunday, we met with an officer who directed us to a place where all the new immig were waiting. This was quite crowded and took an hour for us to get our turn.
The Immig officer was too good to us and asked some ques whatsoever and took our address n signatures. Said we will be getting our PR cards in mail to the above address. and that 2 yrs out of 5 yrs is the obligation to stay in CA physically to maintain our PR status.
Next we moved to Customs, where again the officer was very understanding and clearly gave us instructions. He just asked for the photos of our jewels and that's it. He gave a slip for that n we were out in about 20 mins.
Then we came out, by the time it was already more than 2 hrs since our flight landed, collected baggage. No checking of our check in/ handbags.
In total, we had a great landing experience and no one can beat Canadians about being friendly and polite,
