Post ITA :: Should I decline ITA because of timeline?

Hello Friends,

I received ITA in Jan 13th Draw. Unfortunately, because of some personal commitment in my home country, I will not be able to travel to Canada before Aug 2017. As I understand, validity of Medical test is only 12 months. So, if I submit my ITA documents now (and hence medical), I won't be able to land in Canada within 12 months. So, should I decline ITA because of this?

Is there any work around possible? Is it possible that I get medical test done now and retake it again in January next year?

No you cannot do this. Medicals need to be valid for at least 6 months at time of submission.

Thank you for the help. Sorry, but I fail to understand.
One of the documents to be uploaded is Medical Reports. So, if I want to submit my application now, after getting ITA, if I understand correctly, I need to book an appointment for medicals and get the reports done. Then, if everything goes right and I am offered PR, I need to land in Canada before Medical Tests expire (12 months from the time it was done).

Isn't this right understanding?

Please correct me if I'm mistaken, JoacRy, but can't they get the medicals done now and proceed with their ITA (the medicals will be valid for the next year, until Jan 2017), get the PR and do the "short landing" thing?

As far as I understand, what they can't do, is proceed with their ITA, get the PR, and then just get new medicals done before landing and try to land in Aug 2017 with those new medicals - as their visa will expire by then. I can't give any links to official information, btw, it's just the forum's common knowledge that you have to land before either your passport or medicals expire, whichever comes first. I'm not sure where this knowledge comes from and what happens if you can't land in time.
