Hello,

I got my Post Graduation Work Permit last year (APR 2012) and it's valid until Mar 2015. Two months ago I renewed my passport and now I want to apply for a Temporary Residence Visa (TRV) to be able to come back to Canada. Considering that the Passport # on my work permit is of my old passport, I was wondering if I can apply for a TRV without renewing my work permit.

I appreciate any help/suggestion!

Cheers!

As you have valid work permit I think you do not need to to renew it as you only need TRV to enter in Canada with that new passport.

@flk,

1. Visa on your old passport, it's of what duration? is it expiring on the same date as your PGWP? what's the reason of renew, Did id expire or you lost your passport?

2. if not, assuming has expired already or will expire before the date of your return to canada (and also assuming your visa is not multilple entry), you need to apply for TRV.

3. You need not renew your PGWP in any circumstances as your new passport issued has the passport number cancelled earlier. Hence you needn't worry.

Please share the above asked information in 1 and 2.

Cheers!
