Hi. I recently completed my studies and I am eligible for applying for PGWP. My current SP expires on 31st October 2021 and I am traveling outside Canada in mid October. I have applied for SP extension since I was unsure if I would receive all necessary documents for PGWP. However, I have received all documents.

Can I apply for my PGWP before traveling and while I have a SP extension application in process?

If you have a completion letter from your DLI, you should apply while you are in Canada AND your current study permit is valid so that once you come back to Canada, you can start working immediately.

You can only apply for PGWP within 180 days from the day you received the completion letter and study permit should have been valid at some point of those 180 days. Your study permit will also become invalid in 90 days from the day you received the completion letter.
