Post Graduate Work Permit Query?

Hello Guys,
I need help from seniors. I am currently a full time student at a uni and I am enrolled in 2yrs diploma of computers. I did masters in India and most of the credits for the course (in Canada) are transferred here in Canada which reduce one year of study here in Canada. Now I am going to complete my second year study after this fall 2013. this means I have completed One year of study in Canada. I talked with university advisers they said uni will give you a certificate of 2yrs diploma. My question is that for how long I will get my Post Graduate Work Permit will this be of same length of my study in Canada? will immigration officers consider my actual physical study here in Canada (which is one year) or they just check my certificate (which will be of 2yrs diploma certificate)? I am confused what to do? One more question is that if I will get Post Graduate Work Permit for the length of 1yr then can I apply to extend this work permit. I talked with my immigration consultant and he said if I will get work permit for 1yr and I can apply for extension of this work permit if my employer will say to immigration that I need this employee to continue my business ! Is this true or do I need to something else?

If your certificate says 2 yrs then you are eligible for 2 yrs work permit. Remember to note 2 yrs as the duration of your study in your work permit application..Also do not forget to ask for 2 yrs work permit in your application.. It then depends on the immigration officer to grant you either 2 yrs or 1 yr work permit. Please note that PGWP can only be granted once. You should also be eligible for PR under CEC after 1 yr of work if it is in NOC 0 or A managerial positions.
