Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum and have a few questions.

Well first, I just started a two semester post graduate certificate in Canada with the intention to apply for post grad work permit after.

1. is it advisable to apply for PGWP right away or do another course to increase my chances of the minimum time required to work to apply for PR
2. Can I break a semester between If I decide to continue studying without this affecting PGWP
3. If I apply for a PGWP when does it come into effect - at the time of application or at the time of approval?

Thanks in advance for your expert advice

1. As per CIC rules , you will only get 3 years PGWP if you have studied in same course for 2 years . But , still i have seen many cases in which students get 3 years PGWP by two diffrent 1 years courses or by extending 1 year course to 2 years due to failed courses.

But remember its luck and dont works all the time.

2. If you take a drop which is not schedueled , you will not be allowed to work firstly in the drop . Yes , it can affect if you donnt have any reasons for the drop.

But sometimes students get PGWP even after 2 continous drops. ( luck again )

3. At the time of approval
