Hello,
I tried searching but couldn't find anything related to post-docs and the new online application form. We have a post-doctoral fellow who needs to renew his work permit. He is LMO exempt because he's a post-doc. I tried helping him with the CIC online application form, but we got stuck on one of the questions. It said "Which situation best describes your work situation", and the options were:
We tried the academic exchange option, but the documents it wants you to upload for the application includes an invitation letter which needs to be worded as if the person is just visiting for a short period, not coming as a worker and being compensated. The "none of the above" option expects that an LMO is required even though in this case he is exempt and I did not see an option to pick "I am exempt from an LMO".
Any advice on what we should be picking? Do we just pick the visiting researcher and then upload the same letter from the employer for both the "employer letter" and "invitation letter" sections?
Or are post-docs considered under the "I want to Study" option at the beginning of the application personalizer questions?
All help/advice is appreciated!

- I'm working under an International agreement
- I'm eligible for a work permit under a pilot project
- I'm a provincial nominee certificate holder
- I'm an entrepreneur
- I'm the spouse of a sklled worker
- I'm a religious worker
- I'm on academic exchange, conducting research, or taking training
- I'm an intra-company transferee
- None of the above
