Hi all, to those of you that are in the EE process like me, here's a possible useful tip. When drafting the letters for your non-Canadian experience be sure to state the currency your salary was paid in. In my case all my non-Canadian work experience was in Australia. So after each reference letter where I have stated the job title, reporting manager, the fact that I worked in a full-time capacity, and the hours worked, I stated in the letter that 'I was paid a gross salary of $X during the YYYY Australian financial year. All gross payments received were paid in Australian $'.

May be an obvious thing or may not be helpful at all. Thought I would bring up the point anyway. Hope it helps.

that's exactly what I did :) Less ground for doubt you leave - better off you are. I put an extensive explanation letter about my international experience, background checks (I lived in US for > 6 months before turning 18, and about 2 months after turnring 18) so I referenced the rule in supporting documentation.

Hi 8Hannah8, thank you for your prompt reply. I also appreciate your reply to some of my other posts in relation to my NOC code. As you can tell I'm being over-cautious about every thing I'm potentially asked to submit after reading about some of the experiences of others on this forum.

One question for yourself and anyone else though, do you have to get a 'Letter or Explanation' notarized?

The letter of explanation is an optional personal statement attached. It is an additional document that is not required, but might really help you out if some of the documents attached are vague. As I said in the previous message, l lived in the States for about a year, but didn't attach PCC. I thought it would be worthy explaining why and citing CIC website.
The letter doesn't have to be notarized. I don't think it is possible to notarize it at all due to the fact that it's not a document.
PS: I converted the currency at the historical exchange average rate for that period of time.

Hi my apologies I phrased my thoughts incorrectly. What I meant to say was when getting the Employer to draft the Employment reference letters, it might be worthwhile suggesting that they state the currency in which they made the salary payments to you in.

As per my initial post this is just a suggestion and I'm not sure its even required or how much it may help in the application process. Just me being over cautious.
