Positive LMIA Supports Both Work Permit and PR

Hi everyone,

I have recently received my positive LMIA (so excited!) but I am very confused about a statement on the LMIA "this job offer may be valid to support an application to an economic immigration program subject to the Express Entry system. ... ... This LMIA supports both a work permit application and a permanent residence application (this means the employer will hire the foreign national as a temporary worker before or while the permanent residence application is being processed).

So does it mean that I will have to apply for a temporarily work permit before applying a PR? Or I can apply for both at the same time? But I think I cannot apply the PR directly. Is my interpretation correct? Has anybody experienced something similar?

Its up to you...If you don't need a work permit extension, you don't need to apply for WP...The same LMIA will support your PR and WP, you can apply for both or one or whatever you like...BUt keep in mind the validity of LMIA is of 6 months..The LMIA validity, or expiry date, is indicated on the LMIA under Opinion Expiry Date.

wow, congrats man ... care sharing more details on the case? I've been in canada for 5 years now and 4 months later my post grad work permit is expiring and yet nothing ... so worried ..

It's a dual intent Lmia. Did your employer pay the $1000 fee?
Lmia for PR application support comes with NO fee but I never read anyone who has an approved Lmia of that sort.

Thanks guys! Yes my employer paid the $1000, but yea, the LMIA that supports PR application came unexpectedly.

Sepehrapgapeh, I am not sure what details I can provide to help you but one thing that I know to be important and that took my employer a long time is to find an accurate NOC code because Service Canada checks much in detail if the applicant is eligible to carry out the duties as listed in a specific code.

It was noted on Lmia cause your employer applied for Dual Intent Lmia. Lucky you
