Hi All,

I'm looking for some guidance with trying to apply for a TRV for my boyfriend. He has applied twice in the past and been denied so I want to make sure that the third application is successful.

This will be the first time that I will be the one sponsoring him.

Currently I work for the City of Toronto and the Toronto District School board and between both I make 70k a year. I live on my own but I rent... so I'm not sure if that will affect the application.
I don't have any debts or children or other financial obligations besides myself.
I'm 27 and he's 31.
He currently works full time in Port of Spain as a graphics designer and has been there for the last 8 years. He is also in school part time so I think this may help show his ties to the country He's got one more year of school. He has no kids but doesn't own any property since he's renting out his grand ma's old apartment . He lived in the US with his dad who is a US citizen for 2 years in high school . Should we include this info will it help the application? He is not a US green card holder anymore.

He's thinking about coming for Christmas for a week.

What do we need to include in the letter to help us get a TRV? What documents should we include

We would first need to know what you sent in past applications.

General tips:

- Keep the visit short, 1 week is perfect
- Keep in mind he is the one that has to show financial stability. It doesn't really matter if you have a good stance, CIC wants to see HE CAN AFFORD the trip on his own.
- Include employer's letter of leave stating dates in which he is expected to be back. Also include enrollment letter from his school, stating when he will start the next semester (a good grades track is a good idea to include).
- The letter of invitation should make it clear why you are inviting him, where did you meet and what you will do.

Beyond that it is based on your specifics and previous TRV attempts.
