Keep holding on confused. With Gods blessings you can look back a year from now and remember all that you had to go through and appreciate your relationship even more for it!

For those of you thinking MP ... well, *rolls eyes* U S E L E S S pints of human flesh and blood trying to represent the ones in need of their help.

Hey Confused,

Sorry to hear your MP was not helpful. I guess it depends on who is representing you. I learned most about my file through my MPs office. By the time POS actually corresponded with us, it was the MP who told us what to expect from them weeks before. I find the POS office will respond to the MP's office much quicker than us applicants. (To date, the POS office never responded to any of my case specific inquiries).

Good luck to all the newbies, those still in the game, and those who have finally reached the end of this l o n g journey. :)

GT, maybe it's our luck for the most part.

In order for us to get correspondence from POS, my partner had to call the office directly and requested to speak with someone. MP, on the other hand gave top top information and somewhat lied, yes, they lied. I recall in the beginning of this year, we did and enquiry through the MP's office. Two weeks later, a response came back from the MP's office verbally, "we got a response from the POS office and it's been noted in the file that there is a request for the applicant's PP"

All excited and hyped that we will get that letter soon for PPR and ARC .... waited, waited, waited for months ... about 5 months after that enquiry through MPs Office I got my ARC request. When CAIPS came in April/May, there was no such note in the file for a PPR or anything regarding ARC request or nothing of that nature.

So ya, they are a bunch of lunatics that play the hippidy-dippidy roller coaster game with us.

In all honesty, if you want to get answers I strongly recommend calling that office and make a stink until the secretary puts you over to someone that works in the Immigration Department and can give you information. That is, the information you require and not the information they chose to pass down to you. It really is the most corrupt system I have ever come across especially seeing this is an international representation of the Government of Canada.

I say for those that have been waiting very long, we hire a boat, load up with food, proper survival necessities and set sailing North until we sight Canada. Only then will they accept our applications and grant us PR in the shortest record breaking time.

If you want to read an interesting post, please refer to the that says "Buffalo Office Immigration experience". It is regarding a gay couple (we are a gay couple too), 18 years apart, barely knew each other(met, courted and married in less than a year) and bang on, their interview was approved and granted PR on the same day of the interview.

O Canada, eh ;)

Yes, Confused, I know you have been very patient with CIC.

Every case with them is processed differently. The outcome for one is not necessarily going to be the same outcome of another. . .even with strikingly similar circumstances. I think a lot depends on your country of origin, IO, visa office, immigration history, etc. etc.

All we can do is stay positive & hope for the best. Oh, and have an abundance of patience. How could I forget that!?! ;)

Confused...good to see you back and still hanging in there. Still wishing you all the best to get this over and done.

Hi Forum,

Just wanted to inform everyone that my husband landed on July 18/11. His land process when well I guess for a new immigrant. He was asked three questions:

1)The address where he will be living
2)Where I worked
3)What type of job I do

Since his landing he has applied for his SIN card, and set up a bank account. Now we need to wait for his PR card, and health card. For now we will be enjoying the beautiful summer weather, sightseeing and getting him settled.

Thanks to all those who were helpful advised and shared there experiences. Continue to have patience with POS, pray and keep praying.

Congrats and best wishes Berbician! :)

Thanks for the landing information. Did they give him the applicaition for the SIN card upon landing?

@ GTWIFEY,

Upon his landing he received a bag from Immigration Canada, with some papers about Canada and services available to new immigrants. There was no application for the SIN card just a brochure about how to apply etc, the only application was for his health card (takes 3 mths, you will need something with your hubby's name and address). Health Canada told us that it could be a bank statement, phone bills, etc.

Congrats Berbician!

Wishing you, your hubby and your family all the best. :)

hi all

i'm new to this forums. have been monitoring it for a while now though. I have an issue whereby I could have previously viewed the online status via the 5401 receipt # and now I can't. It tells me the information is invalid now. Have any of you experienced this issue before?

Thanks

Thanks Berbician,

That information will be very helpful to us.

Welcome Brianguyana! How long as your application been in process? I'm not sure why your receipt # wouldnt be working. As an alternative, you can also try the client ID number/immigration file number found on your correspondence from CIC.

Congrats Berbician!!..Well todays my birthday and for the second year now celebrating without my husband. I really hope this will end soon!! Our anniversary is in a week and again will celebrate it without him. Wish us luck! His medical redo will be done and submitted by Thurs this week. I dont think they can ask for anything more. Fingers crossed. Good luck 2 all..this thread needs some news this week!!!

Happy Birthday Can4Vincy!!! :)

Welcome Brianguyana. :) I've had a similar issue with ECAS....just a few days ago it said 'In Process' for my hubby's PR app and now it's not there.....only the line with the sponsorship decision is there. I have no idea what is up with ECAS.
