I am EU national presently in UK. I have the Positive LMO from Alberta in a skilled catagory, Cook. Please let me know, if I can travel to Canada with the LMO and get the work permit at the port of entry. What documents I have to get while travelling to Canada? Thank you..PLZ REPLY

1. If you are visa-exempt(i.e. do not need a visa to visit Canada), your permit will be issued at the border and you will need the following:
- the LMO
- completed application form(s) and all other requested documents on checklist
- $150 fee (please check that this is still the amount because there is talk of increasing it)
- proof that you meet the job requirements i.e. your CV/Resume, training/education certificates, language proficiency(if specified on LMO), etc
- proof of having undergone medical exam(if applicable)

Check whether you need a visa to visa Canada here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas.asp also scroll down to "Visitor Visa Exemptions".

Also check whether you need an immigration medical exam here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/medical/medexams-temp.asp

2. If you are not visa-exempt(i.e. need visa to visit Canada), you must apply for a temporary resident visa(TRV) before you come to Canada. The TRV process normally involves paying application fees, undergoing a medical exam as well as providing evidence of meeting job requirements, evidence that you will leave Canada at the end of your authorized stay, etc.
If approved, you will be given a letter to present to the border officer who will issue your work permit at the port of entry.

Well, if you search this section you will find comments from people who are not from visa-exempt countries but who were able to obtain a work permit at the border. Do you have a valid multiple entry visa? If so, you can try applying at the border and see if they issue it. May be others could provide more information.
