1. If you are visa-exempt(i.e. do not need a visa to visit Canada), your permit will be issued at the border and you will need the following:
- the LMO
- completed application form(s) and all other requested documents on checklist
- $150 fee (please check that this is still the amount because there is talk of increasing it)
- proof that you meet the job requirements i.e. your CV/Resume, training/education certificates, language proficiency(if specified on LMO), etc
- proof of having undergone medical exam(if applicable)

2. If you are not visa-exempt(i.e. need visa to visit Canada), you must apply for a temporary resident visa(TRV) before you come to Canada. The TRV process normally involves paying application fees, undergoing a medical exam as well as providing evidence of meeting job requirements, evidence that you will leave Canada at the end of your authorized stay, etc.
If approved, you will be given a letter to present to the border officer who will issue your work permit at the port of entry.
