Hi everyone!

I already received my visa last Nov 2009. I am planning to go to Canada on April this year. My question is that when I arrived at the port of entry, will the immigration officer check the amount of funds that I carried with me? Can I bring my funds in a form of bank draft or traveller`s cheque? Or I really need to bring cash? I am afraid to bring a big amount of cash. So I was thinking to have the money in a form of cheque or bank draft.

Thank you very much. ;)

HOW TO CARRY LANDING FUNDS:

1. Whether the PA is landing alone, or with some, or all family members, the POF has to be shown to the IO at the POE, when landing for the 1st time. Subsequent visits will not require that.

2. The Officer at the POE may or may not ask u to show it, but it's a requirement of our 'post landing record check'. So, one must not take a chance. Carry the complete POF as per your family strength, as per CIC requirement/s.

3. Morover, it's not that we require to take it all in 'cash'. One needs to have supporting docs to prove it [like bank statement/s].

4. The ideal sit is to carry some Cash + some TCs + the rest in documented proof [if the amount is large].

5. Remember: If u take a draft, it'll take sometime to encash [usually 30 days]. So, carry some cash for regular expenses.

Hope that helps.

London is the only office that will accept property valuations for the initial application. You still have to show unencumbered funds for the issuance of the visa.

Surprising! [But great news] even the Visa Office Specific Instructions for London doesn't state that.
Read the London Instructions here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/E37023.pdf. Check page A-4.

It says unencumbered funds in the instructions, but do a search at British Expats and you will find tons of posts where London has accepted house evaluations at the initial stage.
