Hi all,

I got my invitation couple of days ago and I need to submit my application by February 19. I am on H1B visa and my wife on H4 visa. To get a Police Verification for India, it says get the PCC from Indian embassy near me. I think it might take 6-8 weeks for this to process.

If possible, can me and my wife get the PCC directly from India through local police station even though we are physically not in India?

Is there a problem with that for PR application or should we only apply through Indian embassy and wait for the report.

Any help and suggestions are appreciated.

No. you can’t get PCC from India ... To get one you have to apply in person at Passport Seva Kendra or the Police Station . PSK issues PCC only to those how live in India

As a NRI , you have to apply for one in the nearest Indian embassy . It doesn’t take 6-8 weeks... usually you will get it in 2-3 weeks

Thanks for the response.

I believe I can get PCC from my local police station somehow. Does it cause any problem if I get it that way?

Local police station PCC or any PCC other than the one specified by IRCC is accepted. IRCC is very clear in communication. I don't understand what is the confusion.

PCC is extremely important. Any deviation from what is requested by ircc results in rejection of the application.

Getting Indian PCC via BLS is very easy. It usually takes 2 to 3 weeks or less and not more.

Please follow the guidelines mentioned by IRCC and get your PCC from an Indian embassy near you. Deviations from their specified procedures could cause your application to get rejected.

Buddy the way Indian bureaucracy bends ,anything can’t be done.... I can get you PCC for Mahatma Gandhi for few thousand rupees.... that’s not the point..... you are not supposed to get an PCC through any resources in India while living in a alien country 9000 miles away

you may get away with that if you choose to go ahead and submit a profile... but that’s a Russian roulette ... if you indeed get caught you may have to bid goodbye to your Canadian dreams
