POLICE RECORD CHECK - help!!

Hi there,
My fiance is from South Korea and we're going through the permanent residency process right now. He's currently here on a visitor visa, he entered the country on a working holiday visa. We've been living together for 2.5 years (in Korea and now in Canada). I've sponsored him as my common law spouse and we applied for residency about 7 months ago (sent to Buffalo).

We've been asked twice now to send another police record check. We've already sent two and they aren't explaining why they need another one. When translated (by certified translation service) they both have stated "NOT APPLICABLE" under the criminal record part - meaning he has no record! I'm not sure if this is the reason why they want another police check. Do they want it to say "NO RECORD FOUND"? I asked the translation service to state "no record found" on the newest version which we just received from Korea but they said they couldn't help us because it's not direct translation so they won't certify it. IT MEANS THE SAME THING! ugh.

We've taken all the correct steps that immigration sent to us in order to get the record from Korea so I don't know what the deal is. Has anyone ever had to go through this???

I'm so stressed because this is the only thing holding my fiance back from getting approved for residency!

Maybe you can explain all that you have written here on a separate sheet of paper - that 'Not Applicable' actually means 'No criminal record found'. Then take a fresh Police record out and attach this sheet with your signatures on it and get it notarized in a court of law. Maybe that should help? Just my two cents...

You could also try contacting the visa office in Seoul and asking why they want a new police certificate. Maybe they never received the last one you sent, or maybe they received it but it was misfiled. It is difficult to get in contact with them, I know, but try sending a case-specific email or fax with the explanation you have sent two already and want to know why another is required.
