Barring exceptional cases, they take 10 days to process it. Adding time taken by mail, you can expect to get it in 3-4 weeks end to end.Willzie said:Hi all, can anyone tell me how long they had to wait for their Police clearence certificate to come through in the UK from ACRO?
I'm reading 10 days on the UK acro site but I've been told to expect longer.
Many thanks.
Why do u need ACRO certificate to get married. You will need it when you apply for a PR. If you are not planning to apply for a PR anytime soon, then I suggest you rather wait and apply for Police cert later. When you are ready for PR application.Willzie said:Okay thank you all for your replies!
I have one more question based on my circumstances if someone would be so kind to answer....
I plan on asking my Canadian girlfriend to marry me but I want to show her & her family that I have never been arrested or convicted in the past on anything. I have had a ticket for a traffic light violation 10 years ago which was a £60 fine and 3 points which expired years ago. They obviously believe me it's just I'm a bit of a worrier & I like everything to be fail safe if you know what I mean.
So I want to apply for an ACRO certifiacte now just before I propose and the likley hood is that we will probaly get married in a year, thus I know it would of then expired...WILL it look bad in future application if I then have to apply for another one??
Thank you.
for goodness sake what sort of prospective in laws are these where you think you need a police certificate to show you are worthy enough to marry their daughter. Surely its between you and your GF that is important above all else not your GFs parents who yes you need to respect but you should not need to prove anything else for sure you could end up having to please them forever even when married.alok4best said:Why do u need ACRO certificate to get married.
