I have a question about police clearance certificate. I am getting confused if I Need a police clearance certificate or not.

Here is my scenario :

I landed in Canada on 2nd Jan 2016 (Almost 3 Years and 8 Months ago ). According to CIC "In the past four (4) years, if you spent 183 days or more in a row (since the age of 18) in a country (other than Canada), you must provide a police certificate from each country. "

According to my understanding this is show it should be calculated :

Subtract 4 years from today's date

03-September-2019 Minus 4 years = 03 - September -2015

Then calculate the difference between 03 - September - 2015 and Landed date 2nd Jan 2016. It is 121 days. It is less than 186 days. So I don't need a police clearance certificate.

I am wondering if someone can please confirm that my understanding is correct and according to my scenario I don't need a Police clearance certificate

That is how I interpret the requirement. However, if you are not sure, and it's easy to do, get a PCC anyway? Better to have documentation that you don't need, rather than not have documents that are later requested. IRCC do have the option to request documents outside of the checklist, if they believe that they are relevant.

Your calculation is right..if the COPR date is 2nd Jan 2016 based on the above info, you need no PCC at all.
