I am a UK citizen preparing a skilled worker application to CIO Sydney. I am working in Canada on work permit. Post-June 26th changes, it seems application + appendix A for Buffalo has to be submitted with initial application. I have found conflicting instructions re. timing of police clearance submittal. Telephone inquiry to CIC and IMM EG7000 (p.39) say clearance to be applied for concurrent with CIO review, then submitted direct to Buffalo when application reaches there. Buffalo instructions on their website say that police clearance has to be a part of initial submittal. Also - I have non-dependent children of 30 and 33 years living in UK and US. Neither is applying to live in Canada. Do they need police clearance as well? Some instructions indicate YES.
Any advice would be welcome.
Thanks

CIC on their website stated that police certificates were not required at the submission stage, but would be requested by VO if your application goes into processing. London office continued their checklist at www.cic.gc.ca for a while stating that they WERE required, and have only very recently (around 30th August 2010) amended their checklist asking not to send them until requested.

I imagine the other visa offices will be amending their visa-specific checklist as and when they get round to it. My advice would be to send the certificates if your visa-specific checklist still asks for it. We sent ours with our application when we mailed it on 23rd August because London didn't change their checklist until 30th August.
