Hi All,

I am currently in process for PR which has been stuck for a while . I was thinking of making another package and keeping it ready incase something goes wrong. In that case for police clearance can i order it directly from my country ? or is it necessary to get it from the consulate in canada itself ?

I am from india and seems like they take ur original passport here and it says 4-6 weeks for the police clearance to through. ( i cant be without my passport for so long)

Current Indian PCC takes about 5 working days. I got mine in 5 working days, and i have heard people getting it within 5 days

Oh really ? why does their website say 4-6 weeks ? also can i go directly to indian consulate or do i need to go to BLS ?

You cannot go to consulate directly. If you are near to BLS then go to their office , so that you don't need to submit passport.

If you are far from BLS & applying through post then better prepare for worst(its completely application to application, but most of my friends got with in 1-3 weeks, 1 person got after 4months(his passport was about to expire) ).

If you have a friend/family member in India who is willing/able to apply locally for a PCC on your behalf, you could do that as a backup.

It totally depends (I guess on your luck)...

I got mine in less than 5 business days... and I have seen cases where ppl were still waiting for it after 6 months...

I would say try BLS first and wait couple of weeks... if you don't get any update on 2-3 weeks that means a local verification is in process which can and will take a long time...

That's your signal and if you need your passport back, you can cancel the PCC request from BLS and get back the PP in 4 business days or so..

I would definitely go to BLS as my first option.... I did mine in Brampton branch (if you are in GTA that is)

Good luck... 8)
