Hi all,

I have applied for my husband's Sponsership. Altough he is with me in Canada, We have applied from outside of canada. the file is in process at the New Delhi Visa office. We received a letter today saying exactly this " Please provide us the Police clearance certificate in (original) for/from you from India" whereas the original police clearance certificate that we received from the consulate-General of India in Canada was enclosed in the sponsership file which was recieved by the Canadian High Commision on Feburary 25/2009.

Does anyone know if there is a possiblity that the certificate was somehow lost when the file was transfered or are they requesting for something other than what we have already provided them.

now if we request another one from the consulate-General of India in Canada, it will take more than 3 weeks or so...

All inputs are appreciated..

thanks

Soni

Pre-Assessed..
I would suggest that you call CIC before spending the time and money for another PCC. I suppose it's possible that they lost it. But it's also entirely possible that they want something other than what you sent them. Hard for us to guess what the reason could be. As for the PCC expiring, I wouldn't think that is the reason. Yes, you must submit the PCC to CIC within 3 months of issuance. But once they have it, I've heard that it is good anywhere from 6-12 months from issue date.

Hi guys,

thanks for your response, so i went to the Consulate General of India in Toronto, and applied for the PCC again. and I got it within a week , Although it is issued by the indian consulate, but it doesnt indicate anywhere that it is from India. It has the Consulate General of india toronto's address, and has been signed by the Consul in toronto, and it has a stamp of consulate-General of India Toronto. is it the right document???

I tried getting in touch with the immigration office in india, but havent heard from them for soo long. and i cant really wait further.

I have never seen PCC of another person, So am unsure if the one i have is the right one..

Please advise, urgent help needed...

Thanks a ton

From what you mentioned was stated in the letter you received it seems to me like original one you sent was also from the Consulate in Toronto and is unacceptable for their purposes. They most likely require one from India (i.e. your husband's place of birth) and not from the consulate.

Yes, it’s true... basically your husband need to ask local police station from his city where he used to live... and that PCC is valid... I was in U.K. during my file preparation and I did my PCC from U.K. because I was there since 6 years... and I did one from India because I was born in Gujarat and I spend my 21 year of my life in Gujarat, India so, I did one PCC from there... I attached both and sent to Immigration Lawyer and its perfectly fine....

Yes,

Apparently they need the one from the LOCAL INDAN POLICE, since you are applying from outside, they assume, that it is easier & more appropriate to provide documents from the country of citizenship for the applicant.

& when submitting any Police certificate to CIC, it has to be issued within 3 months.
I had the same thing, last month, when they requested for one from Libya, even that I've been living in Belgium for many years.

By the way: Did you ever wonder why they ask for a police certificate from the country of citizenship? even if you've never been there for so many years

1) They wanna make sure the applicant is not dangerous.
2) They wanna make sure that, in case of a crime, or a conviction in Canada, that they could easily deport the immigrant back to his original country, without having any concerns about his safety, or any miss treatments. (it's a human right thing)

Good luck.
