Hello Everyone!

I would appreciate insight into my inquiry regarding police clearance validity period. I lived in UK as a student for 3 years. My visa expired 2011. When I left the UK, I applied for Police Clearance from ACPO and it states NO LIVE TRACE. This is the same police clearance (taken 2011) I included in my application for Canada (submitted November, 2013). Is the 2011 clearance acceptable to Canadian immigration VO or should I get a new one?

Thank you for time spent reading and/or answering my inquiry.

Good day!

:)

Hi

You need a new one. A PCC cannot be more than 3 months old when CIC receives it.

You are going to have problems. 1) The PCC is WAY out of date and is useless. 2) "NO LIVE TRACE" means that you do have something on your record and you will need to declare it. The fact that you sent an out of date PCC will already start the red flags flying...

I nearly had a heart attack when I read your post Sir!!!! I pulled out my ACPO PC again and I erroneously typed here NO LIVE TRACE instead of just TRACE which is the one thats in my ACPO!!!

I sent the UK one (I got 3 years ago) after my immigration representative told me its fine as I got my police clearance just after I left the UK. I also sent my NBI (Philippines) current one from country of residence now. So I sent a total of 2 PCC, one from UK and one from here that says I am good.

I'm pleased that it says "NO TRACE" instead. However, you will need to obtain a new UK PCC as the limit is, as has already been stated, less than 3 months old at the time of submission. This applies to every country that you were present in for 6 months or more, regardless of how long ago you were last there.

Oh, by the way, fire your immigration representative. He or she doesn't know what they are talking about.

Fortunately applying for an UK police certificate is quite straightforward and unlike many other countries fast. The only problem you have is the pre-Christmas postal service. Depending on the country you are currently in the last recommended posting dates have already passed; so you may have to wait until after Christmas. You get all the relevant information on the internet by contacting http://www.acro.police.uk

Thank you yet again. I will discuss this with my husband and will probably secure a new one.

Thank you for the link and the pre christmas postal situation, very much appreciated.
