Hi,

Myself and my spouse are preparing to move to Canada through Express Entry. We moved to USA from India in November 2016. We are ready with most of the documents required for the process. I understand that we need to get the PCC (Police Clearance Certificate ) from the respective Indian Embassy for India and from FBI for the US stay period. Now, I need some suggestions regarding:

1) The right time to initiate my PCC (Police Clearance Certificate ) process so that I get it on time for onward submission.

2) The validity of the PCC reports.

3) On an average how much time does it take for the reports to come i.e. the turn around time for the entire process.

Thanks and Regards
Chitra

I know that getting report from FBI will take a quite long time. So i suggest take that well in advance before getting ITA. Once you receive ITA, you will have only 90 days to submit reports.

I did Indian PCC from UK and it took 2 weeks for me to get PCC and passport back.
UK PCC, you will get in a day if you pay premium processing
Directly at passport seva kendra, my wife received PCC right away before leaving office.

I believe, if you have left the place and not re-entered logically PCC is valid always for that period. If you have stayed more than 6 months in a country only you need to have PCC

last but not least, you can refer to the below:

Thanks. But someone told me that the PCC is only valid for 5 months. Is it so.
I am prepared to get it done it right away ...if validity is not affected.

If you are expecting an ITA in next 2-3 months, better to initiate the process for FBI PCC now. It takes about 2-3 months. They have an expedited service but it is only for US Citizens and GC holders. Indian PCC will not take long and if you are not planning to go to India, you can get that too. In US, Indian PCC takes about 2-3 weeks.

2) The validity of the PCC reports. For current country of residence, it is valid for 6 months from the date of issue. For other countries, it should be issued after your last visit to the country and if you have not visited the country again, it is valid till you visit again.

3) On an average how much time does it take for the reports to come i.e. the turn around time for the entire process. FBI PCC - 2-3 months. Indian PCC - 2-3 weeks.

Thanks and Regards

Hi Anoop,

I believe you got an Indian pcc from Uk and I am planning to apply for the same. Just wanted to check if my passport is never renewed or issued in the uk, how much time can it take for the PCC to come through? The vfs website says if they have no records of the individual it can take upto 8 weeks.

Thanks

I dont understand the relation of passport renewal/issued in UK related to PCC. There is no relation for both.
I applied in respective website and submitted all docs to VFS. I received my passport back in 14 working days with police verification document. It may take more as well if they need more investigation on your PCC.

Thanks for the respond. The website says this :

If you are Indian passport holder if your complete passport particulars are not available in the passport data base, this service is rendered after obtaining the confirmation/ clearance from the original Passport Issuing Authority/ concerned police authorities in India and it may Minimum take up to 6-8 weeks.

That’s what I was mentioning.dont really know what do they mean by this?

Hi,

I got my AOR March 6 and the medical exam passed yesterday. but CIC asked me for FBI certificate.

I have never been in US, not even landed for a day. Can you please share your opinion? Is this normal request to ask for PCC for place you never been?

never.

Any where in your passport US stamping there? If not, you could reply with details as an explanation letter and passport pages copy to prove.

thats their disclosure statement, i too have seen.

This happens only if they have some issues for identifying data from database. If they cannot identify due to some reason, it may take the mentioned time.

Hi All,
I have query on the PCC. Can we initiate the PCC in advance before receiving the ITA in anticipation so that we save the time for document submission as soon as ITA is received. I inquired with the BLS customer care and they mentioned that ITA is must to apply for PCC in Canada. Can someone confirm about this and ITA is mandatory to apply for PCC if you are staying in Canada. ?

I applied for the Indian PCC via BLS Toronto they did ask verbally if I have any ITA or not, but did not request a copy of the ITA to be submitted along with the document.

Hi
thanks or your response. I am in Ottawa and BLS is insisting on the ITA document from IRCC in order to apply for PCC and they take about 2 weeks time to get the PCC and sometimes it may even take more time as well is what they mentioned.

See there is an option to go to Indian consulate in downtown Toronto in the worst case scenario, they provide the PCC on the same day

Thanks for your suggestion. Since I am in Ottawa, I believe I will have to initiate PCC with Ottawa jurisdiction Indian embassy/consulate. Was wondering if they will allow to apply PCC from Toronto for a resident of Ottawa.
