Hi,

I will be going to canada for Masters(2yrs) in Fall 2021. As of now, I'm already eligible to apply under Express Entry FSW. I'm studying to increase my points and get a sure shot draw.

Now i'm wondering, I have almost all documents related to work ex stuff ready, but PCC seems to be a factor that takes the most time.

My question, can I get Indian PCC before I go to Canada or I have to wait for my Masters to end first then apply for EE and get my PCC from the consulate there?

I'm not planning to make an EE app yet, only after im done with my studies.

If you are planning to finish your master's first before applying to EE, apply for PCC about 6 months or less in advance before you graduate or depending on how long it takes to get it.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/apply-permanent-residence/police-certificates.html

From that link it says
For the country where you currently live
The police certificate for the country where you currently live:

  • must be issued no more than 6 months before the date you submit your application
  • must not be expired

Awesome, will I need to get a canadian PCC or an indian PCC? Or perhaps both? Provided I apply after my studies.

Take your PCC from India before leaving or after you have left, then even if the PCC expires it will still be acceptable since you will not be residing in India. Only PCC from where you are currently residing needs to be valid.

Okay, will I require a request letter or I can simply get pcc from India?
