Police Clearance before ITA

HI

Can we apply for police clearance before getting ITA ? How long does it take to get it both for India and Canada ? Do i need to do it for Canada as I am staying here for almost 4.5 yrs ?

One of my frend told me we need to submit our passport and work permits for the same. So, do we need these docs during the ITA process or copies are enough ?

if you are staying stil in canada for 4.5 years straight . NO, and basically from india so yes u do ,its online now so you have to get a police certificate( valid for 6 mnths -1 year) as it states clearly if you have lived in a country for more then 6 months you need to provide it ,besides it doesnt cost much so might as well ,

Hi Anuja,

I am not sure of the procedures in Canada. Indian PCC is valid for 6 months and you can take that even before the receipt of your ITA. However you will have to submit a valid PCC once you submit your application. You can apply for Indian PCC online by logging into the passport sevakendra website. You will have to go to the with your original passport and online appointment form printout. You have Canadian high commission in ottawa, toronto abnd vancore.... let me know for any queries at abhilash1672@yahoo.in.

I'm not sure CIC goes by validity date on a PCC. From what I gather with the new rules, if you are no longer residing in a country the police certificate should be issued after you left that country. So let's say you obtain an Indian PCC now which shows that it's valid for 6 months and you don't submit your application till next year February and didn't go back to India, technically that PCC is still valid regardless of if the PCC itself says it's valid for 6 months.
