Hi,

Does anyone have experience of getting police checks for places where they traveled for more than six months? I was in Kenya for approx 12 months in total (two 6 month visas) in 2006/7 on tourist visas, but don't have addresses etc and didn't have a work permit.

Have you gotten police checks for places you have traveled but not worked?

Thanks

Lucy

It does depend on the country and the PCC issuing authority if they will issue them to travellers without legal status.
So it looks like Kenya requires proof of residency. If for some reason Kenya rejects your request for a PCC, then you submit their reply and an explanation to IRCC why you couldn't procure a PCC.
Doesn't look like they require a work permit, at least not on the requirements on IRCC's page. Did you have any mail or banking activity perhaps to prove you were in Kenya?

Hi, thanks for your reply. Well I was there between 2006-2007 so it's going to be very hard to track down paperwork for that period. I don't have the same passport anymore so don't have visa stamps or access to the email address that I would have used to book flights etc. I guess I could try and get banking records from that period. Think this might be a question to get some prof advise on, but thanks for setting me on the right track.

I imagine this must be an issue for loads of people who have traveled!
