Hello,

I have a concern which might be a bit silly but I'd rather be sure than risking my application.

I am currently living in Australia, but going to be in Vietnam next month for at least 6 months to a year.

My plan is applying for Australia police check while I am here, just before I leave for Vietnam. And then apply for my Vietnamese police check while I am there.

If things work out as I plan, I would be submitting my e-APR from Vietnam.

Will there be a conflict with the requirement that for the country that you no longer reside, the police check must be issued after the last time the applicant lived in that country.

I live between the two countries, more in Australia in the last 6 years and I just wanted to spend more time with my family, so I am moving to Vietnam. I have a permanent job in Australia (mainly work through the Internet) but I might be required to go back for a short time.

What do I do???

When you submit your PR application, if all police certificates (from Australia before you leave and Vietnam) have been issued within 6 months, you will be fine. The rule of "must be issued after the last time the applicant lived in that country" is for police certificates that are issued more than 6 months before the PR application.

FYI:
If you need a police certificate from a country or territory and:
  • are currently living there, or received the police certificate before leaving, the police certificate must be issued within six months before you apply.
  • have lived there in the past, the police certificate must be issued after you last lived in that country or territory.
Thank you for clearing my doubt!
