Police Certificates

Hi,

I have police clearance certificates received for my native country on Sep 2014, for Canada on Aug 2014 and FBI-US on Dec 2014. I got this earlier to apply under CEC. But my application was returned to me because I applied in Dec 2014. Can I use the same police clearance certificates for applying now in EE or should I apply new one for all three countries? Is there any validity period for the Police Clearance Certificate?

PCC must be issued no more than three months before you apply.

So I'm confused, are police certificates older than 3 months valid?

Yes, the Police Certificates must not be more than six months old at the time of application if you are living in the country where the PC was issued. If you have not stepped into the country since the time your PC was issued then the latest one is valid.

Only for your current country of residence - the PCC at the time of submission should not be more than 6 months old.
For other countries you can use the old ones provided that you did not visit these countries after obtaining the PCC.

Is it mandatory to provide Canadian PCC as well? I am an inland applicant and have been in Canada for nearly 4 years now.

Yes its mandatory for all applicants (Primary applicant, Wife/ Partner, Son/ Daughter) above 18 to provide Police certificate from all countries, applicants have lived more than 6 months.

If you are living in Canada, PCC for Canada is not mandatory:

Purpose

To determine if the applicant or their family members has a criminal record or poses a security risk to Canada

Document requirements

For the applicant’s current country of residence, the PC must have been issued no more than six months before submission of the e-APR.
For countries in which the applicant no longer resides, the PC must have been issued later than the departure date of the last time the client resided in that country for more than six months.
The PCs are required upfront and mandatory for each country (except Canada) where an individual has lived for six or more months in a row. This instruction is for the purpose of the completeness check under section R10. However, it is always at an officer’s discretion to request a new or additional PC.
In some circumstances, CIC must ask for the PC on behalf of the applicant. In others (e.g., New Zealand), a client must complete a consent form to initiate a PC. Specific documents are required of the applicant for such requests and must be submitted as part of the complete application.

You need to provide PCC from Canada by visiting the RCMP website.

Here is what it says -

The Canadian visa office will tell you if you need a Canadian criminal record check while your application is being processed. If the visa office asks you to complete a criminal record check, visit the RCMP website for instructions. You must bring:
•A full electronic set of fingerprints on form C-216C taken by one of these accredited companies or police services
•A complete application form (available on the RCMP website)
•Reason for your request (eg. For immigration)
•Your full name
•Date of birth
•Sex
•Mailing address
•Phone number (and/or fax number and/or e-mail address)
•Applicable fees

1. You do not need to provide RCMP check unless you are specifically requested to do so. You will be notified if you need it.

2. Old certificates from other countries are good to use if they were issued after your last visit to those countries. (Even 3 year old certificate works if you did not go there after you got it.)

3. If your current country is not Canada, then its certificate must be less than 6 month old.

The information I shared also mention the same. It is not mandatory when you are submitting the application but can be requested which is also mentioned in the link you shared. I love the way we all interpret CIC website

The thread you pulled up was from April 2015, and yes, the rules changed AFTER that. Always go by the current rules posted by CIC on their website.
