Police Certificates

Hello,
I'm applying for a Permanent Residence (Canada Family Class) and I'm confused about the "Request for Police Certificates/clearances" step.

I went to the police station here in Vancouver and I made the fingerprints a couple of months ago, but I never received anything from the Police. The only paper I have is the one with my fingerprints. That's the one I have to mail with my PR application?

Could someone explain to me if I'm missing something? I expected to receive a letter from the police stating that I don't have criminal background.

Thanks in advance for your response,

Jose

1. You would have to send the fingerprints to the RCMP for the police check. It would appear VCP only took your prints. You don't require a Police Check for Canada unless CIC asks for it. If they have asked for it go to the Corp of Commissionaires and get digital prints done, results in about 10 days rather than 4 months with paper prints to the RCMP.

Thanks for your answer. Nobody asked me for the police certificate, I thought it was mandatory because it's in the application checklist.

Only if you are asked see: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/north-america/canada.asp

Oh yes, I saw that before... but sometimes the info makes me so confused.
Thanks a lot for your answers, I was planning to do the electronic fingerprints but now I won't do it.

Thanks again,

Jose
