Police Certificates

Hello

Can anyone tell me if I would need to get a police certificate(s) given the following situation.
I'm a canadian citizen living outside Canada and sponsoring my common-law partner. I understand that we need to get Police certificates for my partner who is not a Canadian citizen.

Do I need to submit police certificates given that I am a Canadian citizen?

The sponsor does not need to get police certificates. Only the applicant has to.
