I have sent in my application for permanent residence(sponsored by my wife). I wanted to get a head start on the form IMM5669 and the police certificates. I lived in India for about 10 months after I turned 18 before I came to Canada. regarding police certificates, Guide 5289 states-
"Once we start processing the application, we’ll ask for police certificates from:
  • the principal applicant
  • all family members over the age of 18 (whether they will accompany the principal applicant to Canada or not)
When we ask you for police certificates at this stage, you’ll have to submit them for:
  • the country where you currently live, if you’ve lived there for six months or more; and
  • the country where you’ve spent most of your adult life since the age of 18."
So, by this means, do I need to submit a PCC only from Canada, since I've spent most of my adult life here, or do I need it from both countries? Also, does my wife need a PCC as well?(she was born and raised in Canada).

Also - what are my options for getting a PCC from India? Can I get my family members to get it from there and send it by mail?

Thanks in advance.

Police checks are for the applicant and you should only need a Canadian one if they specifically request it

did you had to provide from one country only?
No we had to provide from Canada and Ireland. The Canada one was a specific request email about a month after we submitted. My husband has lived in Canada for the better part of a decade. We also got one from Australia because my husband lived there for over a year but were never asked.

did they request the one for Ireland, or did you submit it yourself?
