Hi,
My fiancé is currently living in the states. He has been there since April and we wanted to get a little ahead of time and ask for the FBI clearance check since it takes some time to process it. Is he allowed to ask for it even though he has lived there for less than 6 months? I'm asking the question because by the time we file the application, he will have been leaving in the states for 6 months.

I hope I'm clear. Thank you for your help.

He can certainly request it now if he has the fingerprint card to send in. It will take probably 5-8 weeks to come in, so if you're ready to file soon after that, all the better. Make sure he gets the upfront medical as well.

What is stopping from applying now? If it's close, you could send the application now, or soon, before he has been there six months, and they may not require it. I would still apply for the certificate from the FBI, so that if/when CIC decides they need it, you don't have to wait 12 weeks.

Thank you for both your replies. Deweysmith, that's what I had in mind and I called CIC and they mentioned to add a letter to our file explaining why we didn't include it upfront.

I appreciate your help. Have a great evening.
