if you are applying with simplified applicaion which I think you are, because you are not in canada. then you dont need to send police clearance now. but with regular application you do need send it with everything esle.

He is applying in the US, Buffalo, this is a regular application and he needs to send all the documents with the application. US police clearance not needed, only countries where you have lived for 6 months or longer since age 18. Unless he lived in the US before.

hello varsham,
i am also in USA since last one month. I also want to apply at buffalo consulate for canadian immigration. But I have been told that I can apply at buffalo only after i have completed one year of stay at USA. Do you have any confirmative details that we can apply with one or two months of stay in USA. Of course I am on F1 visa with I-94 which shows, "admitted for D/S" i.e. admitted for duration of study, which is 2 years as per I-20 form. Please advise...........................

The wording is something like if you have been legally admitted for one year or more. You can understand it in two ways, a) you have a visa for the US for one year or more and can apply as soon as you have arrived b) you must have been legally living in the US for one year or more. I don't know which it is, the only way is to contact immigration or the visa office in Buffalo and ask. If you do, please report back so we all know too.

Dear members,
Thank you for your support and advises. I had communicated the CIC office in buffalo and quite quickly they replied back. Although I cannot probably paste the entire mail due to official restrictions (probably) I am sending the part which i feel is significant to clarify our confusion.

If you are able to provide documents showing that you are currently a citizen of the USA or a resident of the USA, Bermuda or Canada, having been granted lawful entry and allowed to remain for at least one year, you may submit your application to our office.
Acceptable documents to prove lawful entry and duration of status:
- current or expired entry/exit stamps in your national passport; and
- current or expired status documents:
Canada i.e. Study Permit, Work Permit or Visitor Record
USA i.e. I-94 card, H1-B (I-797), J-1 (IAP-66) or F-1 (I-20)

Hope this helps.....

Thanking you once again,
