Police certificate through FBI website or FBI approved channeler in USA?

Hey guys,

I live in US and want to get my Police certificate done.
I was checking for the procedure to get the FBI police certificate and found out that there are two processes to get this done as listed on FBI website.

Summary:

1. FBI paper based: I send out documents required to the FBI and they take their sweet time to return back the results within 2-3 months.

2. FBI approved channelers.: I go to one of their agents and get my livescan and fingerprinting done and get my ELECTRONIC police certificate within 3-5 business days via email.


Will Canadian immigration ever need the physical copy of the Police certificate?

Will CIC accept my electronic copy of the police report issued by the FBI?

Please let me know guys.

CIC says clearly if you're a US citizen, you can do the electronic and it takes up to 72 hours. So that's the email. Otherwise US green card and US visa holders have to wait 6 months to get the paper.

Damn. Will go through directly to FBI then and wait freaking 3-4 months. Thanks for the info.

Can you post a link to that please? I did my fingerprints through a fingerprint service provider and then submitted my request personally. I mailed my fingerprint card and submitted my application online. The online form and offline form were identical.

Do I still need to go through the mail process?
